I am a Pittsburgh-based artist who grew up drawing cartoons, skateboard graphics, break dancers, and later, serial killers. After receiving my BFA from Edinboro University of PA, I obsessively started to paint skeletons, devils and saints in my spare time.
Several years later I received my diploma in funeral directing/embalming from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. My paintings are greatly influenced by my past work in funeral homes as well as Halloween, the Day of the Dead, southern folk art, churches, German Expressionism and horror films.
She has lips like whiskey
eyes like the sea
and she’ll intoxicate and drown you
just to see
what dead men walk like
where lovers once stood
her heart is the iceberg
where the Titanic sank
and her laugh like the waters
the passengers drank
her skin is on fire
like California brushbut she’s lovely and crazy
and if you love her,
she’s yours
